Military Mom #8
United we stand and divided we fall - an old adage that rings true. It was the underlying reasoning for the Civil War. Pulling together at times in our history – especially during war – when there can be so much opposition everywhere, is very important for unity.
In our country we also stand up for what we believe – our voice counts. So many voices, so many choices. So how in the face of free speech, free enterprise, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, freedom of political party agenda – - – can we be united – at ALL!!!!
“WE THE PEOPLE” – it sounds like we are all ‘one people’ together – but do we all pull together for the important underlying foundation on which we stand? That foundation – our Constitution and Bill of Rights – includes the 2nd Amendment – Our Right to Own and Bear Arms ‘for the safety of our nation’. Our military is part of this essential and firm foundation on which we stand AND operate. We are “one nation, under God, indivisible, with justice and liberty for all”. We must not let this foundation be taken away or left to crumble underneath us like the Fall of Rome. Let us stand together, pull together during this time of war. We are the United States of America – United we stand – that’s what we do best.
Most of us are wrapped up in the political race right now and that is rightly so. For this is a critical time for our country. But one CAN support the troops simultaneously while participating in this race, as long as we realize the 2 are completely separate. Our soldiers did NOT have a choice about going to war and in the same respect; we also should NOT have a choice about giving them our support. Since our military is doing its duty, we must let our soldiers know we are with them whether we agree on being AT war or not. It is our duty to be caring, concerned and to be praying for them – NO MATTER WHAT DECISIONS are being made on behalf of our nation. The political differences of “we the people” cannot always bring people together for unity in choices, but we can agree on some things. War is often confusing. It was only after the Civil War was over and we knew the outcome that we could then be ‘one’ because we knew where we stood exactly.
So HOW can we pull together and support our troops?
Pick a soldier, put his or her picture on your frig and pray for your adopted soldier.
Pray for all Americans to focus on our foundation and envision our unity.
Trust that our diversity and freedoms are what make us strong and will lead to the best outcome of this war. That our morals stay high so that God will truly Bless America.
